Mission Statement
The Closed Corporation, Odendaal, Jordaan, Dorfling & Associates or beter known as OJD & Associates, was Established in 1988. All the partners of the business were, after completion of their studies, employed by the Department of Inland Revenue (The Receiver of Revenue). It was during this term that they realised that a vast number of Tax payers paid more tax than they should because they simply did not realise what they were entitled to.
There was also a great need for Individuals and SMME’s to have access to personal attention and advice, something which bigger accountancy firms could not always give. This includes – advice with regard to the different Business models and Financing options at the purchase of assets and timeous tax planning.
Nico Mansvelt B Comm.Hons CFA (SA) is the Owner of OJD & Associates and a Registered Tax Practioner.
The OJD Team has a combined +12 years experience in various departments of the Receiver of Revenue. Therefore their combined experience ensures that they have the proficiency of knowing exactly how each of these departments function within the “Receiver”, how they work and how they should be dealt with, and what the requirements are. The above joined with their academic qualifications enables OJD & Associates to provide a “One-Stop Service” for Financial, Accounting, Tax and Managerial services over a wide spectrum of businesses.
The face of OJD has changed substantially over the past 21 years. In 1997 one of the partners moved into the education sector and established the GLOBAL SCHOOL OF BUSINESS. Nico was a lecturer in bookkeeping at this fascility for 10 years before it was sold to ADvTECH. Nico took over the business of OJD as sole member when they moved into their current premises in 2001. The premises is shared with ODENDAAL & Co, the other remaining partner of the OJD. As chartered accountant Herman is still the auditor for all our attorney and estate agent trust accounts.
The current economic climate necessitates specialised guidance and counselling in almost all sectors for business decisions, Human Resource Management, Financing or Tax.
SMME’s who are not able to keep up with continuous changes in Legislation and other Statutory responsibilities and give complete attention to their business are now able to make us of this unique service that OJD & Associates Provide.
It is important that clients keep in mind that we are Accountants, Tax Consultants and Business Consultants. To be able to make informed decisions, Management of Businesses sometimes needs more than just Financial Statements (a picture is worth a thousand words!). Management Accounts should be exactly that! Figures and graphs, which Management can use to make informed decisions and plan for the future. In order to provide this, your accounting system should be properly recording/capturing information and compiling reports etc. This will enable management, in conjunction with the accountant, to make better decisions and planning as well as identifying problem areas, sooner rather than later. This means that your accounting system is adding value to your business. Very often SMME’s cannot afford to process their own accounts due to the high cost of personnel and costly software and OJD provides an Outsourcing Service to take care of this on your behalf!
